DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

I have long been fascinated by cinema’s capacity to encapsulate various mediums in order to reflect the human condition on the big screen.

I think as filmmakers, like other artists, we have a responsibility to shed light on issues concerning the human condition. What makes cinema so special is its ability to utilize the concept of time in order to highlight certain emotions. With a simple close-up, for instance, you can feel what the actor is expressing without resorting to words.

What drives me as a filmmaker is storytelling, in all its forms. When I see films by Ingmar Bergman, Masaki Kobayashi, Peter Greenaway, or Michael Haneke I continue to be amazed at this medium’s potential and what is possible. I believe cinema is still in its embryonic stages and it’s exciting to be a contributor in this ever-evolving artform.
