A Family’s Affairs
True love speaks out.
ABOUT
In this experimental documentary, director Londan Imani uses a blend of stop motion animation, puppetry, AI, and archival materials to explore the line between love and abuse. The character of Dani Sparkle is thrust into a painful search for the truth after her sister’s untimely death.
As memories resurface, Dani is forced to confront the web of lies and manipulation that shaped the family’s image. Torn between mending her fractured family or breaking free, Dani must decide between uncovering the truth or preserving the illusion of unity.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
What is the line between love and abuse?
At its core, A Family’s Affairs is an exploration of love, loss, and the often-blurred line between care and control. After my 17 year old sister passed away, I was forced to confront the cracks in my family’s foundation and how we defined love.
This film is my attempt to make sense of that grief and give voice to the questions that haunted me: Were we loved or controlled? Protected or silenced?
I believe the different truths I uncovered in this process are reflected in the different medium used to present my family without using archival footage and/or interviews.
Ultimately, the film is not blaming a single person and instead focuses on how generational cycles of harm are perpetuated and protected by silence.
