ABOUT
Trapped by the COVID-19 pandemic, an Istanbul-born international student contemplates the meaning of freedom while facing the Byzantine process of the US permanent residency application. Limbo² explores the experiences and tribulations of an international student stuck inside with the rest of society while going through a long journey to become a permanent resident in the U.S. and stay with his family.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Limbo² is a personal documentary about experiences, tribulations and difficulties. I have always dreamed about moving with my family to the U.S. to have better opportunities and a better quality of life, so when the opportunity came across, it was essential for me to grasp it. Limbo² delivers on those difficulties and experiences with personal memories, archival footage and one-on-one interviews.
DIRECTOR BIO
Ali Can Usuloglu is a documentary filmmaker and photographer. He has a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a focus on sonic and visual arts from the Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont and is currently completing his MFA in Filmmaking at the Maryland Institute College of Art with an expected graduation date of May 2021.
He likes to revolve his work around short documentaries about his personal experiences and social issues he cares about. He also partakes in nature and product photography work. When he is not working on projects, he likes to listen to music and hangout with friends, play video games and watch interesting tech videos.
