DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
The idea for Farewell, My Son stems from my childhood life in Nigeria. It visually reflects the ways of life in a small village there, the food, culture, and language, and the countryside with its long dirt roads and open fields. I hope to portray a different view of how typical Nigerian children are raised and the lessons they learn from their parents, and hopefully debunk some of the stereotypes around being African.
