ABOUT
Saylor and Naim had friends over for Saylor’s birthday. After a drug and sex fueled night Saylor wakes up to a call from her parents saying that they’re parking downstairs and on their way up. Saylor has to rush to get her apartment cleaned, her stoned husband alert, and friends out of her apartment before her parents arrive. Told to a faux studio audience, this film attempts to normalize the nonconforming lives of the couples with slapstick comedy and ‘90s sitcom laugh tracks.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Dem’s current interests is in telling Black stories within a diverse range of artistic disciplines that are reflective of his experiences as an eclectic and creative child, living in spaces where he was seen as different. The common trope of Black stories only being told as trauma-based narratives is one that he rejects, and he hopes to tell a broader range of tales that dip into the genres of sci-fi, horror, fantasy and more while also celebrating the culture of his community.
