Gladys’ Beautiful Beard Balm
Beauty is as thick as your beard.
ABOUT
Jerome is the Most Beautiful Man in Baltimore, a title given to only the most giftedly handsome men in a culture where beautiful people live a life of privilege and homely people are second-class citizens. On the day of the big beauty contest, Jerome’s beard goes haywire and he loses his looks. He must cross to the homely part of town to retrieve Gladys’ Beautiful Beard Balm while facing a city curfew whose prejudice and injustice he only now sees.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Gladys’ Beautiful Beard Balm, and really all of my films, reflect my inner corn and tell my simple stories. I believe in the power of the story.
Stories allow us to connect empathetically with each other and to see that we are not all that different. Stories must be genuine. Humor is not the sugar to make the medicine palatable; it is the medicine. Otherwise, the film becomes dishonest propaganda.
My medicine is simple: “Hey guys, we’re not around that long. Let’s treat each other a little nicer.”
