Lost in Anxiety

How do you escape the ennui?

ABOUT

A disabled, older woman meditates to relieve anxiety but has a nightmare instead. In her dream, a doctor shows her a videotape that she looks for nothing in an empty room. After waking up, she feels overwhelmed. Her son tries to calm her down, but she keeps ruffling her room even after her son leaves, convinced that she has lost something. As she stands from her wheelchair to search the cupboard, she suffers a fall.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Lost in Anxiety was born during a time of great anxiety in my own life when I was considering quitting the film industry. I simply couldn’t find the passion for making movies, so I wrote a story about someone seeking something she couldn’t even identify.

My mother is also an inspiration for my film. She broke her leg one day while exercising with me. When I asked her how she broke her leg, she said she hadn’t realized she was too old to do heavy exercises.

It broke my heart to hear this, and I decided to tell a story that blended her struggle with mine.
