The Book of Nemo: The Psychedelic Gospel

Short Synopsis

Nemo is done with the world. The constant stimulation of political turmoil is weighing on his spirit. After seeking advice from his wiser cousin, Gabe, Nemo embarks into the forest to take a psychedelic potion that is said to provide inner clarity. What he didn’t expect was to meet Jesus Christ, or rather, Yeshua, a shrouded Christ-like being who helps Nemo reclaim his humanity.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

There is a quote I’ve heard that changed the way I want to approach my creative work, “What kind of art are you making when there’s a genocide happening?” It’s didactic, yes, but it confronts today’s artist with a moral question that we should all be asking ourselves, “What do I want to contribute to the world we live in?” Being able to make and share art publicly is a privilege that not everyone has. It is my responsibility to make art that contributes to finding a solution to the world’s issues rather than ignoring, or god forbid, intensifying them. My work is always going to shine a light on neglected communities and expose oppression. I do this by working directly with those communities and collaborating with them to make a representative and impactful story.
